Simply Amaizin'

We finally made it to Simply Amaizin' farm after intending to go for the last couple of years. Our friend, Ryan, has told us so much about this place and how nice the owners are and that you can just make yourself at home there. Well, she was right. The farm has been in the owners family since the late 1800's and the farm house is around 100 years old. "Make yourself at home," is exactly what they told us to do. They have kittens (which Anna absolutely loved and didn't want to leave), free range chickens, turkeys, a pig, cows, and of course the corn maze. There were eggs that had been laid so the kids were able to take them out of the "chicken hotel" as it was referred to and put in a container. They did a great job and only one egg didn't make it (oops, a little finger went through it). Anna had a great time just roaming around with the animals and Brandon helped navigate us through the corn maze. It is a great place to take the kids and just appreciate some of the simpler things in life!

Fun Fall Festivities

Fall is such a great time of year. The leaves are changing here and the trees are beautiful. We are having more fall-like temps and there are so many fun things to do with the kids. We recently got together with our friends, John and Vonda, and their girls, Maddie and Anne. John's parents, John and Wanda, invited us over to have a bonfire and hayride on their farm. It was the perfect night for it. We roasted hot dogs, had some chili, John Sr. took us on a hayride through the fields, and we ended the night with some smores. Thank you so much Westmoreland's for a great evening!

New Flooring-Done

It has taken me a bit of time to get these final pics on here because I have been in full cleanup mode. The house was so dusty and dirty that I thought I should give it a good cleaning so that is what I have been doing for the last couple days. We are very pleased with how everything has turned out!

Day Two-Done

Well, with day two of installation done, the end is almost here. Yesterday, they finished the master bath, the rest of the great room, the half bath and half of the dining room. We were able to move some furniture back into the great room so that did give us some of our bedroom back. Today, they are finishing the dining room and all the detail items and will clean up and be done. We are extremely pleased so far and can't wait to show off the finished project. Until then....

Day One-Done

At the end of day one of installation, we had the laundry room done and most of the great room done. The foyer, dining room, half bath, and master bath are to be done today. It is looking great so far even with the dust and dirt layer on top of it. They are working as I type so I will keep you posted.

Such a Mess

It is home improvement time here at the White house. We have planned for a while to get some new flooring and are finally taking the plunge. Along with that, we had some new windows put in last week and more insulation added to our attic. In the words of Matt, "I feel like I am hemorrhaging by spending all this money!" We hadn't planned to have it all done at the same time, but it worked out that way. Maybe it is a good thing to get it all over with because our house is a MESS!
The insulation being blown in the attic created a layer of dust everywhere! We tore out our own old carpet and hardwood. Yes, I did say we tore out hardwood. It pained Matt, but it would have been much harder to match up and it had some bad spots in it. Thanks to our friends John and Vonda who helped us with some of the tear out. We have furniture in our kitchen and bedroom and garage. The house is in a bit of disarray.
But, the good news is that today they started laying our new flooring. We decided to go with hardwood in our great room and dining room instead of the carpet that used to be in there. It is looking good so far!

Second Creek Pumpkin Fest

There is a chill in the air, the leaves are starting to turn colors and some are dropping to the ground, football is in full swing, so it must be October. It also means it is apple butter time. This past weekend we were a vendor at the Second Creek Pumpkin Fest in Owensville. It was a successful day for us selling Grandmary's Apple Butter. We even added some pumpkin butter this year that was a big hit. Now, I did not even take one picture of us selling the apple butter, so I will have to do that at the next event.
It wasn't all work though. The kids did help us with the apple butter, but also were able to have fun painting pumpkins, playing pumpkin games, making pottery, getting faces painted, and going to the petting zoo. I think we all had a great day!
