A Sweet Conversation

While Anna and I were out and about today running some errands, we had such a sweet, innocent conversation. She out of the blue asked me, "When old people die, do they go to heaven?" So I told her that not all people go to heaven and that you don't have to be old to die. She then asked, "So little kids can die?" I said yes, whenever it is their time they can die, and you go to heaven if you have Jesus in your heart. With a serious, concerned look on her face she said, "Mom, I need to ask Jesus in my heart! I have to go to heaven!" So, we said a prayer and she was just so happy knowing she had Jesus in her heart. Even though she probably doesn't fully understand what she did today, I know that God is working in her life. God is good!!

All Pro Dad

This morning was the first All Pro Dad breakfast held at Brandon's school. Matt was able to take Brandon and have breakfast with him and quite a few other dads and their kids. All Pro Dad is a program founded by Tony Dungy and thankfully, there is a dad in our area willing to be a team captain and organize this meeting once a month at Rock Creek Elem. For more info on this you can check out the website at www.allprodad.com. The team captain leads some discussion and and there is a short video to watch. There is a topic for each meeting as well, and of course, just a chance for kids and their dads to have some breakfast time together. After checking out the website for this, I found some info for moms too, IMOM.com, which is led by Tony Dungy's wife. I am looking forward to learning even more about these programs.
Now, we definitely have an All Pro Dad in our house. I don't know that I can even put into words how wonderful a father Matt is. He is the most patient, kind, selfless, compassionate, loving and fun dad. He works hard for our family, but puts us above all else. We love him so much and appreciate all that he does for us. We are so blessed to have him at the head of our household. We love you Daddy!!

Apple Picking

Fall has arrived and we are ready to enjoy all of the fun things this season will bring. The weather has been great the past few days and we were itching to get out and do something. I thought I would take the kids and go apple picking at Centennial Farms. Matt was out of town competing in a BBQ cookoff, and I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing without him, but I knew our next few weekends were full. I would just take some pictures for him to enjoy. The drive to Augusta, MO was nice, although a little curvy. When the trees start changing colors it will be beautiful! Centennial Farms is a small family farm that allows you to pick apples from their trees and they have a play area for the kids. We picked some golden declicious apples which were pretty tasty. We also went to pick our own pumpkins from their pumpkin field. It was just a nice day to be out and enjoying some of the simple things in life!

"Star of the Week"

In Brandon's class at school, each student gets to be "star of the week" some time in the school year. This past week was Brandon's turn. Being "star of the week" allows the student to be able to share a little about themselves. On Monday, Brandon took in some pictures of himself and his family and he filled out some index cards with answers to some questions, such as "What is your favorite color?", "What do you want to be when you grown up?", etc. This was all displayed on a bulletin board labeled "All About Me". Tuesday, he took in a favorite book to have his teacher, Mrs. Dreyer, read to the class. Wed. was show and tell day. He took five things that would fit into his backpack to share with his classmates. Thurs. or Friday, a parent or relative was encouraged to come and have lunch with their child and then go back to the classroom and read a book to the class. So, Thurs. just happened to be an early release day so Brandon got out 1:10 which was a treat. Friday was the special day for me to go and have lunch with Brandon, and since I had to go and get Anna from prek, Matt came and read a book to Brandon's class. So, Matt and I each got to be a proud parent that day!! Yes, we are always very proud of our "star"!!

Labor Day Weekend

We started the weekend off with the Mizzou/Illini game at the Edward Jones Dome. After a little tailgating, we did see the Tigers pull out a victory.

We went to Owensville after church on Sunday. We always enjoy spending time with family, and we haven't been there in a while. Brandon has a new ride thanks to Papa. He felt pretty big driving the lawnmower around the yard. One of these days he will actually be able to help cut the grass! Anna took her turn with a little assistance from me pushing the gas.

Matt and I took part in the Labor Day run to benefit the Chris Bohl Foundation, and survived the run from Rosebud to Owensville.
